或許大多數樂迷對於發表首張大碟「The Rising Tied」的 Fort Minor 還不熟悉，但正如率先面世的Double A-Side十二吋黑膠中作品之一"Remember The Name"的曲名般，從這一刻起絕對要牢記這個名字，因為此乃身擁三千五百萬張銷量與葛萊美獎肯定之 Nu-Metal/Mixture-Rock 天團 Linkin Park首腦人物 Mike Shinoda 的 Side Project。

一直以來，身為Linkin Park 主音 MC 的 Mike Shinoda 其實更扮演了重要的核心創作角色，同時與外界合作頻繁──不要忘記他曾先後連同兩位 Linkin Park 團員 Joseph Hahn 與 Chester Bennington，分別為 X-Ecutioners 與 Handsome Boy Modeling School 這兩大 Hip Hop 組合的專輯跨刀帶來"It’s Goin’ Down"與"Rock And Roll (Could Never Hip Hop Like This) Part 2"，還受邀為Depeche Mode 經典舊作 Enjoy The Silence 炮製 Remix 收錄於 Remixes 81─04中；是以最終他是首位以個人姿態出擊的 Linkin Park 成員，也屬意料中事。

形式上，於Linkin Park 與華納合作成立的自家廠牌 Machine Shop Records (由 Linkin Park 吉他手Brad Delson 擔任廠牌 A&R)旗下發表的「The Rising Tied」是一張 Mike 的個人專輯，但會選擇以Fort Minor 名義而非自己名字發表，是因為Mike將之視為一個有不少圈中好手共同參予、具無限可能性的音樂計劃，而不只是一張個人專輯那麼簡單。Mike 也在接受 MTV 訪問時說明了命名為Fort Minor 的原因: 「Fort 表示某種沈重、強硬的感覺，而 Minor 可以有兩種解釋，其一意思是渺小微弱，其二是──音樂的理論中有兩種基本的和弦，大調或者小調，一般來說小調和弦聽起來比較黑暗、憂傷。這張專輯便是關於這些極端元素並置時所可能激盪產生的動能與創作光譜，因此 Fort Minor 這個名字再適合不過。」

不過千萬不要以為 Mike Shinoda 會帶來另一張Linkin Park 式唱片，相反地，他所意圖完成的，正是一張足以反映其深厚 Hip Hop 底蘊的個人化作品，是以在先前 Linkin Park 那張 Mash-Up 專輯「Collision Course」合作愉快並與 Mike 結成好友的 Hip Hop 核心指標 Jay-Z，便受邀出任執行製作。

「The Rising Tied」是一張直接了當的 Hip Hop 唱片，於是乎我們也見到 Mike 邀集多位 Hip Hop 好手跨刀助陣。多年好友兼自家廠牌旗下單位 Styles Of Beyond 無疑是整個 Fort Minor 計劃中不可或缺的一股力量，多首作品中都可見到他們的演出聲影；其中"Remember The Name"在大量弦樂鋪陳下醞釀著山雨欲來的懾人張力，與 The Roots 成員 Black Thought 聯袂獻聲、透過鋼琴剪影營造幽悒氛圍的"Right Now"靈感來自於導演勞勃阿特曼電影「Short Cuts」(銀色性男女)，與 Common 一同演出、描述洛杉磯生活點滴的"Back Home"流露低迴 Moody 的騷靈氣息，而與 Alt-Funk 藝人Kenna 以及加州 Alternative Metal 樂團 Far 主唱 Jonah Matranga 攜手合作、隱約蟄伏 Funk-Metal 破壞力的"Red To Black"則堪稱專輯中最為搖滾的一曲。此外，唱作俱佳的 Neo-Soul 才子 John Legend為"High Road"獻聲並伴奏鋼琴，LP戰友 DJ Joe Hahn 與 Mike 則再度並肩譜出"Slip Out The Back"這首悲愴深沉之作。

"Where’d You Go?"肯定是專輯中最為動人的慢板樂章，自家廠牌 Machine Shop 女歌手 Holly Brook 惹人心疼的天使嗓音與加州 Alternative Metal 樂團 Far 主唱 Jonah Matranga 的 Rappin’的演繹，在苦澀感傷的Hip Hop Ballad曲式中展現絲絲入扣的細膩感。不可忽略的還有"Kenji"這首試圖捕捉到早期 Public Enemy 精神、瀰漫著糾結不安情緒的作品，本身是日美混血的 Mike 在歌曲中透過回憶錄體裁，紀錄著第二次大戰期間，美國拘留所裡日本公民被囚禁的故事。

欣爺曾為各位客倌介紹過 Linkin Park，裡面身為團長和 MC 主音的 Mike Shinoda，這一次
